How to find out the IP of a website

You can use the PING utility included with Windows to determine the "real" IP address of a website. Before using this utility, make sure you are not assigning a host name to some IP addresses with HostName Commander, because if you do, the PING utility will display the address has been configured with HostName Commander, in instead of "real" IP address.

To run the PING utility, click the Windows Start button and select Run from the Start menu. If you are using Windows 95,98 or Me, type "command" (without the quotes) in the command line to execute. If you use Windows XP, 2000 or NT, type "cmd" (again without the quotes). Click OK and the command window should appear on the screen.

Then enter the word "ping" (without the quotes) followed by a space followed by the name of the host you want to determine the IP address and press Enter:

This example IP address www.rkgit.edu.in hostname is 74.52.201.2 & IP Address www.kiet.edu hostname is 220.225.19.55. (Remember IP address may change future!). If utility PING reports a error, ensure computer is connected Internet when executes.
